I stopped birth control, when can I conceive?

Deciding to try for a baby after stopping birth control pills is an exciting step, but many people wonder whether and how long they should wait before attempting to conceive. The good news is that, for most individuals, fertility can return rather quickly after discontinuing the pill.

Here are a few points to consider:

How Soon Can You Get Pregnant?

Ovulation can resume as soon as two weeks after stopping birth control pills, meaning pregnancy is possible almost immediately. However, the timeline varies from person to person. Some may take a few months for hormones to rebalance and their menstrual cycles to regulate.

Although, it might be an exciting thought to get pregnant immediately, we like to tell you: ‘hold your horses’. By all means, we are in favor of getting pregnant when you want. While it's possible to conceive right away, we suggest waiting until you've had at least 3 natural menstrual cycles.

• Typically, after this waiting period healthy sperm is available and your eggs have matured, improving your chances of a successful conception.

  
  

• Waiting 3 months also helps track ovulation more accurately and ensures that the uterine lining is healthy enough to support pregnancy.
